Protip: Tighten ALL the lugs on your wheels. It’s pretty important.

Doesn’t seem like it. I only drove it after the wheel fell off for about 150 feet. I’ll throw it on the lift inot the next week or so.

Oh yeah, the wheel is scraped up a bit but that isn’t a huge deal. I think it knowledge the balancing weights off, though, so that is annoying.

Good to hear, Thank God nothing worse
I know, right? It *is* annoying when a wheel is out of balance, esp with BMW.
An asset and a curse, yoi know? when everything is right you really feel it and when something is not right you also really feel it!

I’m very glad that a good Samaritan let me know that things were about to go south (he had a very bright, blinking light bar on his Jeep and he saw the wheel start to go). I slowed to like 25 when it dropped. If I was going 50, I may have had to wrestle it to not lose control.
Really, I should have inspected the car more (shoulda, woulda, coulda). There was a shudder going on all day, but I figured it was just a lumpy tire or out of balance wheel (the tires/wheels were sitting for 2 years, since winter has been mild in the past).
But, it will be saved. Probably this weekend, since I don’t want to borrow a car from my parents for work next week. Getting it on the lift will make inspecting it closely a lot easier, though.

If it’s of help to know, I had the same thing happen before (was guilty of same that is), luckily at low speed
The moron who failed to torque adequately was me. Wobble? What wobble?? Haha

I had this same situation on my 924, but wasn’t me tightening that time. Luckily, it was close enough to home that we grasped a floor jack and put it back on whole it was sitting in the road. Fun stuff, really.

My friend forgot twice on two different cars. Left one wheel just hand tight. The second time it happened he lost 2 lug nuts on the road.
I told him that i had to give him a deadleg so that he would remember. Punched him hard enough that he was limping for about two weeks. I don’t think he has forgotten since.

Hah, I’m definitely not forgetting after this one. I went on a recreational drive for like 50 miles today. The exhaust is sexy as hell, but now I don’t get to hear it for a while. :(
But she will rise again, very soon.
